As founding managing partner, Mr. Sekhon has been responsible for sourcing, analyzing, and underwriting Markpoint's portfolio investments since the firm's inception. Over the last twelve years, Mr. Sekhon has gained direct investment experience in numerous industries including enterprise software, wireless communications, RF integrated circuits, medical devices, aviation services, specialty-batteries, environmental remediation, and real estate valuation and investment. Mr. Sekhon has served on the Board of Directors of seven portfolio companies and one Small Business Investment Company (SBIC). Mr. Sekhon currently participates as an observer on the Board of Directors of Softricity, VizionWare, Alpha Med-Surge, and Manystreams.

Throughout his professional career, Mr. Sekhon has been instrumental in the structuring and funding of numerous entrepreneurial endeavors. In 1995, Mr. Sekhon co-founded the Markpoint Company, a turnaround and workout firm focusing on restructuring and refinancing undervalued privately held companies. During this time, Mr. Sekhon helped complete seven acquisitions and the sale of these holdings in 1999 to an SBIC. In 2000, Mr. Sekhon sold his ownership in the turnaround practice and founded Markpoint Venture Partners.

In addition to his diverse private equity background, as a former commercial real estate appraiser, Mr. Sekhon has experience in the analysis and application of various real estate valuation methodologies. Capitalizing on both his real estate and investment backgrounds, Mr. Sekhon is also the founder and managing partner of Markpoint Realty Group, a Dallas based real estate investment firm. In this capacity, Mr. Sekhon led equity investments in four retail centers totaling over 238,000 square feet, a 116,296 square foot medical office redevelopment, a 320 unit apartment complex, a 109 room Hampton Inn limited service hotel, a 22-acre master planned development site, and a 77,056 square foot office building.

Mr. Sekhon received a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of North Texas in 1989 and currently lives in Allen, Texas with his wife and three young children.

Kirk Fichtner, Senior Analyst

Since 2003, Mr. Fichtner has been responsible for helping analyze, underwrite and monitor Markpoint's portfolio investments. For over 15 years, Mr. Fichtner has been involved in the capital structure, strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, management and operations for both publicly traded and private companies. Mr. Fichtner began his financial career on Wall Street in 1987. Moving to New York after graduate school, he joined Dillon, Read and Co. As part of the capital markets group, he was a key member of the team which participated in or led the underwriting of over 80 initial public offerings. In this capacity, Mr. Fichtner helped structure debt and equity financings for some of the largest and most respected companies in the world. While at Dillon, Read he gained extensive experience in securities markets, capital structure, and corporate finance.

Upon moving back to Dallas, Mr. Fichtner joined NationsBank in their advisory services group where he coordinated the settlement of securities trades for both individual and institutional trust accounts. Mr. Fichtner left NationsBank to join DuPont in 1996 to become the accounting manager of the south central division. At DuPont, Mr. Fichtner gained valuable management and corporate tax experience. In 1999, Mr. Fichtner joined 1st Global Inc., an NASD member broker dealer, as manager of their fee-based asset management department. He held NASD Series 7 and Series 24 licenses. While at 1st Global, he managed a group of six individuals, and participated with the management team in strategic planning, budgeting, and staff training. He was responsible for revamping fee-based operations, automating the reporting process, and growing assets under management from $225 million to over $1 billion in just over three years.

Mr. Fichtner received his Bachelor of Business Administration from Texas Tech University in 1984, and his Master of Business Administration, Finance and Investments, from The George Washington University in 1987. He is married and lives in Plano, Texas.
